[COVID-19] Vehicle Registration Procedure during Pandemic

Due to COVID-19 motor vehicle registration offices are either closed or are working remotely to help customers.

All renewal and new vehicle registration are delayed till month of May. However, those of you who move from other States and obtained driver’s license recently, must register their vehicle within 30 days from licensed date.

Here are the list of documents you will need.

  1. MV-1 Form
    You can obtain this from by visiting https://dor.georgia.gov/mv-1-dor-motor-vehicle-titletag-application . You need to fill out for each vehicle.
  2. Copy of Georgia Driver’s License
  3. Vehicle Registration document from previous State
  4. Proof of Georgia auto insurance
    a. You can request proof of insurance from your current insurance company.
  5. Tax payment in form of money order
    a. Georgia driver e-service provide the info how much you will need to pay for your automobile tax. Go to https://eservices.drives.ga.gov/_/ , click TAVT Estimator and input Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and the date that you obtain GA Driver’s License. Once you hit ā€œCalculate Feesā€, it will show Fair market value. 3% of the fair market value will be the tax you need to pay. Office receives only money order.

Officer will review your document and let you know if you need additional info to provide via letter.
